Bio

Eduardo Solas was born in Spain. When he was 6 years old he started classical music training in Antonio de Cabezon conservatory (Burgos). He studied percussion a few  years later with Alfredo Salcedo. He had his first drum-set lesson with Arturo García.

In 1997 he moved to Barcelona where he took lessons with Jo Krause, Quim So, Pablo Posa and David Gómez.

After finishing his jazz education in Taller de Musics, he received a full scholarship from Berklee College of Music. He graduated from Berklee in 2003 after taking lessons with legends such as Danilo Perez, Joe Lovano, Hal Crook, Ian Froman, John Ramsay, Dave Dicenso, Mark Walker, Jon Hazilla and Ed Tomassi. During this time in Boston, Eduardo had a busy musical career outside of the university playing gigs in the area, such as musicals in the RiverSide theater and playing drums in the Gospel band in Resurrection Church. He has also shared the stage with musicians Esperanza Spalding, Vadim Neselovskyi, Bryan Baker y Miguel Gandelman.


After graduating Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music, he moved to New York where he received a  scholarship to study a Master in Queens College. He got lessons from Antonio Hart, Bruce Barth, Michael Mossman, Gene Jackson and John Riley. In 2005 he received the "Outstanding Drummer Award" from Michael Mossman hands on behalf of Queens College. After graduating, Queens College offered him a teaching job working in the “Jazz Project”. He also taught in PAL Conservatory Program.

During the five years he lived in New York, he had a very intense musical career playing in the New York area and touring throughout the USA.  He was honored to play in some of the most important stages in New York, such as Iridium, Fat Cat and also in off-Broadway musicals. The musical diversity that you can find in New York has allowed Eduardo to play with musicians with different styles and backgrounds such as Antonio Hart, Delfeayo Marsalis, Michael Mossman, Roswell Rudd, Emile’s Charlap Big Band, George Colligan, Yayoi Ikawa, Fernando Otero, Dexter Porter, El Puma, John Benítez, Palito Ortega, Edy Martínez, Rod Clemmonds, R. Martin, Danny Daniel, King Clave, Yaco Monti y Leo Dan.

Today Eduardo Solas lives in Madrid where his has completed a Masters in Juan Carlos I University and plays in different projects like The Black Note, Jonathan Hurtado Trio, GSD Big Band, Human Project, the musical “Hair”…

Eduardo Solas gives online private lessons for everybody that can't afford to come to Madrid and also does drum-set master classes, percussion workshops (flamenco, Brazillian, African, Afro-Cuban and Indian rhythms).
